Stubbo,
Money 2005 under Vista Home Premium also gives no problems but as
others have said let it update before converting a data file from a
previous version of Money.
I had Money 2005 on Vista and it worked fine....until Microsoft changed
their policy and stopped support for online services after 2 years of use. I
had to upgrade to Money 2008. Now I have 2 more years. Apparently, this is
their new policy. If you don't use any online banking, Money 2005 should be
fine.

I have had no problems running Money 2005 with Vista Ultimate 32 bit.
After Money 2005 they are of no use to UK customers anyway.
Is the 2008 version any different ?
