I have a really annoying issue where every now and again
my windows XP home edition start to lock up.

What happens is that the system seems to hang for 30
seconds or so, then come back to life for a couple of
seconds, then hangs again and repeats this pattern until
I can shut it down.

It seems to happen when I start particular applications
that use the network.

It's a bit of a long shot, anyone heard of this before?

Thanks in advance
Sasquatch.

I have the same problem, except my computer never
recovers from the freeze. If anyone has a fix I would be
glad to try it on my PC.

Thanks,

Since it happens only when you start particular applications, then you
have your answer. Go to their web site(s) and see if they have any
patches you should download.
