I used to run a GeForce 2 GTS,
recently upgraded to a Hercules 9700 Pro.

Whenever I run medal of Honor AA, Breakthru or Spearhead, I get whole areas
of the sky turning black.

I have reset all video settings to lowest and one-by one increased them.

Nothing seems to help.

On top of that, when I run the auto config program, it detects 64Mb of video
RAM - can this be correct?

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Mark

Did you re-install windows after you installed your 9700pro, that's what I
had to do when I changed
from a gforce 3 ti500 to 9700 pro.

An obvious question to ask is if you uninstalled all the GF drivers
and 'removed the device' before making the change over? I run AIW
9700Pro with the 3.8 drivers and all is fine with that game..

You're kidding ?

I assume that re-installing Windows means that I'd have to re-install all
the updates, software, patches etc etc

I don't think I can be bothered to do that at the moment.

I guess I'll have to live with black skies!

Thanks anyway

Did you upgrade your motherboard chipset drivers? Did you install DirectX
9.0b? Did you uninstall your old video drivers and check the registry for
any remnants of them?

Joe

I did completely uninstall the nvidia drivers as per the instructions.
dx9 installed
currently using cat 3.7 as there seems to be a lot of posts about problems
with cat 3.8

I can't find the card's control panel, so I'll update the drivers to the cat
3.8 including the control panel and see what happens!

Thanks for all the advice

Mark

ps. the card is fine in all other games (NOLF2, SOF2, CFS3, Morrowind3 etc),
so I'm leaning away from the idea of a duff card

mine says 64 also, and i have a 9700 pro. i haven't had problems though,
other than poor FPS!! I think the Quake3 engine is old, and is more
dependant on the CPU than newer games.. therefore it still runs like shit
even on a good card if you don't have a fast CPU.

That is normal for the 9700pro and that game for some reason.

If you view the config files in the game, 64mb is the max video ram, and
256mb is the max system ram listed.
