Modifying themes

I have Windows XP Pro and use Microsoft Messenger
(Version 6.2.0137).
I have noticed recently that when I modify the sound
alerts received in Messenger they are not being saved
upon re-boot. Even if I name the "theme" with the
modifications and "apply" that theme and "ok" it, if I
reboot the sounds will have reverted to default sounds.
Why is this happening? Is it something that happened in
the most recent upgrade of Messenger? or is it something
in my own settings that is allowing the definition to
revert to default?

Thanks in advance.

The problem is a bug in the current MSN Messenger which reset the four
".Current"-values in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\AppEvents\Schemes\Apps\MSNMSGR to
the ".Default"-values when Messenger starts...

Nothing can be done to prevent this, it is a bug in MSN Messenger...

Btw, Even editing the ".Default"-values to the path and files that you
want doesn't help...

The only thing you could do is to actualy overwrite the default sound
with your own soundfiles...

To other people: also note that those values for those keys depend on
where MSN Messenger is installed and on what drive and what sounds you
used previously, so don't try to make registry-fixes for your friends as
this will only screw up other peoples registry...

To MSN Messenger staff: I hope that it will be fixed in the next release
;) ...

Thanks Cookie. The explanation makes sense even if the
behavior doesn't. Presumably it will be "fixed" next go
around.
