I created a graph in powerpoint and then ungrouped it to
make formating changes. After I ungrouped it, I was no
longer able to modify the data in the graph. How can I
fix this?

Thank you thank you thank you!!!

When you ungrouped it you must have responded "Yes" to the message - - "This
is an imported object, not a group. If you convert it to a Microsoft Office
drawing object, embedded data or linked information will be lost. Do you
want to convert the object?" The ungrouping has converted the graph to a
series of PowerPoint objects and it is no longer an MSGraph chart. The
embedded data has been lost unless you can recover with "undos". Otherwise
you'll need to revert to your backup version. If you don't have a backup,
it would be good to take a look at Sequential Save at

Jessica,

While ungrouping charts is an excellent way to make formatting changes, you
will always lose your data. This is because PowerPoint turns a chart to a
bunch of drawing objects, without a data sheet. You should always keep a
copy of your chart somewhere else, maybe in a hidden slide.

What you have done is covered here, which I use for making charts better
animated, but you will lose data:

Hello,

If you (or anyone else reading this message) have suggestions as to how
graph formatting and editing could be improved (so that you don't have to
ungroup graphs to get them to look the way you want), don't forget to send
your feedback (in YOUR OWN WORDS, please) to Microsoft at:

http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp

As with all product suggestions, it's important that you not just state
your wish but also WHY it is important to you that your product suggestion
be implemented by Microsoft. Microsoft receives thousands of product
suggestions every day and we read each one but, in any given product
development cycle, there are only sufficient resources to address the ones
that are most important to our customers so take the extra time to state
your case as clearly and completely as possible.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions).
