Hi all,

So I've added a drive to my system and wanting:
a) a fresh install of WinXP
b) Win98 as part of a multi boot setup
c) retain my current WinXP installation (which I'm using now)

........ I did the following:
- Disconnected the existing drive and installed the new drive partitioning
it into three.
- installed Win98 on the first partition (c: - fat32)
- clean installed WinXP on the second (d: - ntfs)
- left the third partition free (e: - fat32)

Since I've not yet got at least the clean XP system set up with all the h/ware
drivers, internet, mail, software, blah, blah, blah, etc, etc, I've now reconnected
my old drive (with this XP installation) as primary and made the new drive with
the new installs my secondary drive. Thus the following is now the case:
WinXPold (this one) = c:
Win98 = d:
WinXPnew = e:
Free = f:
Obviously I can't boot either of the new installations as things are now, and
figuring that Win98 is too "stupid" to migrate I'll need to reconnect the new
drive as primary. My question is whether I can add this, the old WinXP,
option to the new WinXP boot menu in which case, upon startup, I'd choose
either WinXPnew, Win98 or WinXPold as OS for that session ? If not, what
other options do I have to retain the existing XP as well as the new installs ?

TIA
Jona

No you can't unless old XP is on Fat32.

Thanks, but why would that be. Do you have the URL to a
good site where I might find more information ?

Because Win 98 needs a Fat 32 partition. All OS's boot from C drive. Therefore C needs to be Fat32 for Win 98.

Win98 is on a fat32 partition (c:) on the new drive which I have in the meantime
jumpered to be the secondary drive so that I could boot WinXPold again. Perhaps
my wording below is confusing, so let me simplify:

I have a dual boot system on one partitioned drive:
c: Win98
d: WinXP

If I add a second HDD with an existing XP installation, can I somehow incorporate
it as a boot option in the existing XP boot menu ?
