HI:

I am not sure why I cannot find this helpful feature. It seems before that
when a folder had a subfolder, it would have a plus sign in the folder icon.
It seems that it has disappeared in windows 7 and Vista. Is there a way to
bring it back? Even more handy would be a map of all the folders above and
below the folder that I am in, in the layout pane..

I keep finding subfolders that were accidentally moved into the wrong folder
during drag and drop moves. These two features would be very helpful for
navigating.

TIA,

Pete

I'm afraid that plus mark has gone.
To aid navigating in Explorer and Regedit I use this little app:

http://www.ptorris.com/outils.php#regdirxp

It changes the open folder icon to the colour of your choice.
Although it's French it's a simple program and fairly easy to figure out.
You have a choice of XP style (horizontal) folders or Vista style (vertical) folders.
You select the type and colour you want and then every open
folder in the navigation pane is easily seen.
