I have recently tried to Upgrade from Win98 to XP Pro. After installations was completed i tried to connect to the Net but have since learned that my current Modem is no longer compatible, it is an Aztech MDP3858-E Modem. I would be grateful if you could suggest the correct modem i need to make it work.

No need to buy another modem , just install a XP driver . Jym

I just bought a new pc and have xp instead of my older
98 version. The modem on mine is called a BCM V.92 56K
Modem by Broadcam Corp. and is attached to my Com 3 port.
You should be able to find many compatible modems at any
electronics chain. It will come with the installation
software and setup instructions for removing your old one
and putting in the new one inside your tower. They're
easy to replace, just open your tower and look where the
phone cord plugs in; that's where your modem is. Hope
this helps, dv...

that modem should be in the XP database already, just open device manager,
find the modem in the list, right-click and choose "uninstall". Then
choose dev mngr's menu item "scan for new hardware", and let XP install
its default driver for that modem (the one with the Microsoft Corporation
signature).
