On my last phone bill, i was charged for two calls to
Chile which I queried with BT. They tell me that the
number is a data line which has been accessed from my
modem using international dialling which terminates the
call to my ISP and connects via the international number.
How do i protect against this happening again?

Many thanks

First, try and stay off sites like PORN and related. They
are notorious for installing programs like this DIALER in
your system. Search for and Install a program called
Spybot Search & Destroy to your computer. Once installed,
use the Search for Updates feature, and then run the
SEARCH.

It will most likely find your DIALER and remove it.

As far as preventative measures go.. Someone on here will
probably be able to tell you what to disable in I.E so
these downloads don't automatically download and install
themselves.

Hope this helped.
