Modem Problems

I have have my modem swicthed on when I boot my mahcine
with XP. If I switch the modem on after machine has booted
it will not recognise the modem at all

I think that's normal behaviour.
It detects the device as non-present at bootup, and it's not available.
AFAIK, there's no way to avoid ths behaviour.

Either leave the modem on all the time, or turn it on first.
