Modem Noise.

I just upgraded to XP from Windows ME. I am running a Diamond SupraSST 56i modem. While connected to the internet it conitnues to make the shshshshshshshshsh noise. I have updated drivers etc. What am I missing? I have also checked and turned the speaker volumn off as well.

Control Panel|PHONE & MODEMS|MODEMS tab|PROPERTIES|ADVANCED

In the Extra Settings box, type...

M0 (zero, not the letter o)

Click on OK, and see what happens.
