Hi, I would like to know how to edit the "modem initialization commands" in
windows vista, I went to control panel >> Phone and modem options >> modems
tab, modem properties >> Advanced .

Here i see the field for the string or command line, but I cannot enter
anything although this was possible with previous versions of windows like
XP, I am administrator on the machine so that shouldn't be a problem , any
help is welcome.

Thanks in advance,
Sebastiano

Typing in that box is being echoed here. This may be a modem-specific
issue.
This one is an Intel 536EP.

You need to go back to the Modems tab, press the properties button in the lower right. You will then have another dialog box pop up, press the Change Settings button. A UAC dialog box will open, click continue. Click the Advanced tab on the next dialog box and you can now edit the initialization commands. Edit away!!
