Modem and video drivers gone after Win2K install

I recently updated from Windows ME to Windows 2000, only
to discover that some of my drivers aren't being
recognized for some reason. Most critically, My "PCI
Simple Communications Controller" and my "Video
Controller" aren't being recognized somehow.

I have attempted to reinstall the drivers, but Windows
either can't find them or won't run the Setup files (as
the case may be, depending on which method I use to
install the drivers).

If I attempt to run a driver setup file, the setup process
never begins. If I attempt to search for the drivers using
a disk, the drivers aren't located by Windows.

Okay, what do I do now? How do I get my internal, dial-up
modem to work? How do I get my monitor to use more than 16
colors? I'm hopeless.

Go to the website of the manufacturer of your modem and download current
Windows 2000 drivers.

See above response, except replace modem with video card.
I'm hopeless.
I'd have to agree.
