Because my motherboard died, I can't clean up my HD by
deleting devices, etc. When I try to reinstall W2K "over
itself" on the HD, I don't get the choice to upgrade or do
a new install, all I get is choice between <Windows 2000
Professional> or <recovery console>. Heck, I can't even
get in to do a fresh install. If I choose recovery
console, I don't know what to do with it as I don't know
R/C commands. If I choose the W2K Pro, I get the DBSOD!!!

Any suggestions on how I can work around this?

Here's hoping . . . . .

I'm happy to announce that I found a work-around. I put
the drive in another computer as a slave drive and deleted
the WINNT folder. Then I was able to reinstall Windows
2000. Of course, I have to reinstall all my programs and
device drivers, in order to set up the Registry again,
but, happily, I still have all my data files and
documents, photos, etc.
