I can get my motherboard to boot by manually shorting the pins with a
screwdriver or shorting the wires that are attached to the momentary
swithch, but the momentary push switch will not work. All the other ATX case
leads work fine (Power LED, HDD LED Reset Switch)
It is a system I'm building for the kids.

Any suggestions ?

Umm ... Check the wiring to the switch, and/or the switch itself.

You've eliminated the motherboard.

So it's something else ... the switch on the front panel, or the
wiring to it.

Since the Reset Switch is a momentary contact switch, as is the Power
Switch, try the Reset Switch in place of the Power Switch. If the system
boots using that switch then you know the original Power Switch is most
likely bad/defective and needs to be replaced.

The truth is out there. You just have to look in the right places and ask
the right questions.

It's most definately a dead power switch
Thanks very much for your help. I tried to reset switch in place and voila
it works just fine. I've read on google that you can buy a replacement power
switch, maybe I'll try my local electrical parts store. For the time being
I'll use the reset switch as the power switch. That never occurred to me,
Thank goodenss for N/G's
