i did an upgrade to Vista Business from XP. I noticed that active sync is no
longer required.
however, i canot figure out how to synchronoize my windows mobile 5 device.
i can do the following
1) the mobile device synchronizes with teh exchange server
2) when i connect the device to the PC using the Usb connection, the PC asks
me for the device password
3) i can see the device listed under Portable devices
4) i can browse the device and the memory card
5) the device does appear in the registery as being partnered (carried over
from before the upgrade)

i cannot see the device listed in the Sync Partnerships
i cannot create a new sync partnership

is there something that is not set up correfctly? is there a workaround for
this?

i d/l and installed and i am now able to sync.
two annoying issues though
1) i won't remember my password, so each time i attach my device i have to
renter the PW
2) when i open the sync center it display a folder called "Unnamed
partnership". when i double click on it it opens the Mobile Device Center
and correctly identifies my device.

is this normal? if not, what do i need to do to correct it?
