MNS Tool Bar Disappears

I've had the MSN toolbar with popup blocker for some
time. All of a sudden it disappeared. I reinstalled it,
but it still would not come up. I restored my set up to
the last time it functioned properly (on three different
occasions today) and everything was fine--for about an
hour. Then it disappeared again. Somehow it was attached
to the Yahoo bar which I unistalled to avoid the problem.
Then all was okay for about another hour. It just
disappeared, and I can't get it back, even with
reintalling. I've done the "View" routine, everything,
and it just won't come back. Any suggestions?

Check to see if this is check.
Control panel-Internet Options-Advanced Tab
Enable third Party Browser Extensions
Restart

Open Internet explorer
View Toolbars.
Check msn toolbar.

"Enable third Party Browser Extensions" is checked (always
has been, I think.). I've tried this and it didn't solve
the problem. I've restarted, and restored to an earlier
date when it did work. It comes up then disappears when I
close down IE. Can't figure it out.
 
Reset the toolbar setting from Registry using this fix:
http://mvps.org/sramesh2k/reg/IEToolbar.reg

Close all browser windows and apply that REG.

change registries--that is, I am a Neanderthal when it
comes to programming or editing registries. I am afraid
of really messing up something.
 
That works in Windows 98/ME also. Here is the contents of the file:

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar\WebBrowser]
"ITBarLayout"=-

-----------------

Which means that it deletes "ITBarLayout" value in the registry. This is recreated automatically once you launch the browser again. If you're interested, proceed. But keep in mind that there is no other way to reset that toolbar layout, than editing the registry. *You can still backup the registry key before removing the value*
