Kathy

How can I temporarily disable a mmc so I can work on the
box without restrictions? I do not want to have to go
into the console to change settings.

Thank you.

I don't want to be under the console group policy
restrictions when I log onto the computer to do any
maintenance, etc. Run line is removed, network
neighborhood is hidden, etc. I know I can go back into
the console and re-enable these restrictions, but is there
a better/fast way I as Admin. of local box can just not be
under or turn off the group policies? Sorry if I'm not
being clear. Appreciate any suggestions.

Kathy,

If you are the admin, the best bet it to make additional GPOs at the domain
level, and move the admin accounts to a different OU than other users. This
way, you in essence create a more secure environment for users and a more
functional (and less secure) environment for admins.

If you have setup local policies (not from the AD level), then you are in a
bind. The local settings will apply to all users that logon.

Hope this helps... if not, give me more details about domain/workgroup etc.
