mmc won't open and windows update doesn't work

Hello,

I have a new installation of XP Pro. I ran all the available updates
through windows update and then a few days later I tried to configure iis,
but I can't open any of the MMC's. So I thought I should try to run windows
update again and now that won't work either.

I don't get an error number when I try to run MMC I just get do you want to
send error.

Any help would be great.

To repair all system files, go to Start/Run, and type:

SFC /SCANNOW
