Yesterday, I was using SQL Server Enterprise Manager to run a Package. It
was taking a long time so I hit 'Cancel'. Since Cancel didn't do anything, I
used Task Manager to shut town the Enterprise Manager application.
From this point on, anytime I run an application via Microsoft Management
Console, and close the MMC interface, my screen goes completely blank and I
have to reboot. Even if I type 'mmc' via the command line, and close the MMC
GUI, I have to reboot.
Obviously, something or some system files got corrupted when I used Task
Manager to force MMC to close the first time. I can use everything else just
fine, but if I ever need to use something using MMC, I have to reboot when I
close the MMC interface.
I never made an emergency repair disk (we have a ghost image that I used to
install). Do you have any ideas of what I can do to repair this MMC problem
without reinstalling 2000?
Thanks,
Jason
