Ive searched and searched. The Microsoft Management
Console failed to install on my 2 computers, a friend
sent me a working version a while back, but I installed
it on my other computer and deleted it accidentally. Now
what I cant understand.. is how in the hell he got
mmc.exe installer, and Ive searched all over
microsoft.com and cant find anything for XP. There is ME
and 98, but they say that it wont work for 2k or XP, and
they're right. Where the heck do i get this file!?!?! So
aggrivating please help!

Hi Ben,

MMC.EXE is installed from the Windows XP CD to the SYSTEM32 directory.
I've never heard of an issue where it was not installed. You can find it
on the CD in the I386 directory. It will be listed as MMC.EX_ (it is
compressed). You can use the EXPAND.EXE utility at a Command Prompt to
expand it from the CD and copy it to your hard drive. An example command
line would be (substitute correct drive letters and path where necessary -
capital letters are not required although shown):

EXPAND D:\I386\MMC.EX_ C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\MMC.EXE
