After starting up the disk defragmenter utility (it starts
up just fine), when I proceed to analyze a drive I recieve
this message; "Mmc.exe has generated errors and will be
closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program."
I have added defragmenter to the Administrator Tools menu
and tried to run it from there without success. Is there
some way to repair this problem? I'm open to any
suggestions.
Thanks,
Jimmy

MMC (Microsoft Management Console) is that common looking
box that all you see when you open administrative tools in
win2k. It's a handy little tool that allows you configure
custom monitors and event log viewers etc, except when it
screws up like in your case. You may have a corrupt copy
of the MMC on your harddrive. Right now all I can think
of doing is finding MMC.exe and deleting it(probably in
you system folder, Winnt by default, or winnt/system32).
Then you can restart from the win2k disc and repair the
installation, which will hopefully copy a new mmc.exe to
your harddrive.
