After installing MMC 8.8, message came up saying UCI is not installed on
system, Some apps may not work. I have been trying to get Video capture to
work but the PC Check test fails due to missing capture .DLL files. Is there
some conection here?

I have done this 4-5 times and still get this message.

I got the latest Sound Blaster driver and Via. 4 in 1 drivers installed.
All 6 ATI WDM files listed in the TV Capture WDM readme file as essential
are listed in device mgr under sound, video.

I take everthing out and reinstall but still the same problem. How are folks
getting video capture to work?

The UCI not found msg may not be related to your capture problem. I got the
same UCI
msg when I installed MMC 8.8, but I have no capture problems.

The "UCI is not installed..." message is normally caused by people not
installing software ATI says on their download site to install. This
specific error is caused by not installing the "DAO / MDAC" component.

I had a similar, maybe same the problem, with MMC. Believe it or not, the
only solution for me was to hex-edit an ATI .dll file.
I have no idea why this has to be done at all, some says it is caused by
DX9.0b but I had the same problem even before upgrading to DX9.0b. You can
always try the M$ so called patch for a problem with the TV tuner
capability. Download it here: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=825116

If that didn't help make a backup of the original DrvDShow.dll before you
try this in an hex-editor of your choice:
Open: C:\Program Files\ATI Multimedia\main\DrvDShow.dll (size: 876618, ver:
8.8.006)
Find: 81-7D-E8-00-E8-3F-03-74 and replace it to: 81-7D-E8-00-E8-3F-03-EB

(Found the "hack" on the Rage3D forum http://www.rage3d.com/board/index.php
after some days of digging).
