Can I create DVD from a saved MM2 movie. Already saved to dv-avi. When I try
to open the menu to create a DVD it pops up a box that tells me I need a
"plug-in". I thought visionexpress was all I needed. Can I do this or do I
need to upgrade to Nero Reloded?

Thanks for any help

Hello there,

You can download the free wma plugin to deal with your problem from Nero....you
do not need the plugin if you have version 6 Reloaded of Nero. There is also a
free upgrade to Nero 6 Reloaded if you qualify of course....go to the site and
look for yourself.

I have already downloaded the free plugin. I am pretty new at this and am
not sure how to make use of the wma plugin. Thanks for any tips.

Hello again,

I have started a new sub thread because I think the previous one has gone in
the wrong direction.

Can I create DVD from a saved MM2 movie. Already saved to dv-avi. When I try
to open the menu to create a DVD it pops up a box that tells me I need a
"plug-in". I thought visionexpress was all I needed. Can I do this or do I

I can only talk about Nero 6 Reloaded. You can approach the needed route from a
number of ways, assuming you have the quick start Icon double click it and
select Nero Vision. When offered choose the "MAKE a DVD" option. Underneath the
left right hand pane...choose the one on the left and "Browse For & Import"
Media Files. Assuming you have done all of your editing you drag the video down
to the timeline and click on NExt. From here on you will be given the
opportunity to add and remove chapters and edit the menu system that will be
displayed on your TV. There is a very useful download from Nero with loads of
free menu templates...but you can create your own template (that's what I did)
so that subsequent family videos all have the same look and feel. Once the
menu(s) are the way you want you can progress to the next stage by clicking
NEXT, preview the whole video and then click Next again and burn the disk.

There are lots of options available to you via the MORE>>> option at the bottom
of the screen...here you can set PAL or NTSC 4:3 or 16:9 and the bit rate for
the video and audio track Dolby, AC3 etc. If you have a video that's going to
run for more than one hour, you can use these options by slowly decreasing the
bit rate so that the whole thing WILL fit. I use that option for video up to
1hr 20mins to bring it down so that the file will fit on a standard
DVD...anything above that I burn to Dual Layer disks.

The above methods are much the same if you want to create a SVCD.

A lot more than the above can be learned from the Help File ( as usual ) But
the above should get you going OK.

The one thing about Nero that I am really not happy with is the method for
cutting out a section, say TV adverts, from a file. Its a subject that is going
to be hard to explain in a newsgroup. I have had Nero for a few weeks and only
yesterday did I finally "click" with how its properly done...and I have to say
that if you are not extra careful you can easily delete a file from the project
(not the hard drive) and loose all other changes forcing you to go back to the
start.

The thing I like the most with Nero is the ability to re code a previously made
DVD. I have a standalone DVD recorder with built in TV Tuner and SCAR input
from my satellite disk......It creates DVD disks in the VR style....I can
import that into Nero, chop out the adverts, create a menu and burn to a write
once disk. There is NO loss of quality. These burners are available for less
than £100 in the UK (and the wife got 10% discount as well) and as all of our
major retailers no longer sell VHS tape decks I can see the price coming down
quite quickly....we benefit all round because re-writable disks are now very
cheap and the quality of the recording is many times better than a VHS tape
system

Import"

That should read Underneath the RIGHT hand pane

Sorry about that...
