I've over 20 hours into trying to burn a MM2 movie in MyDVD. Made headway
thanks to "wojos" but still do not have a finished product. I was unable to
import the MM2 movie into MyDVD in one piece - 18 minutes. I was able to
import the first 9 minutes then could not import the last 9. Had to split
the last 9 minutes into two 4.5 movies. That makes no sense. I settled for
this situation and the preview in MyDVD was ok and the burning process was
normal but my DVD player will not play the disk. I've tried the DV-AVI
(ntsc) setting with the same results. I used the same type DVD disk and
MyDVD to burn 3 of the AVI video clips used in the movie and the player
worked fine . HELP !! Note: Ulead Movie Factory 5 will not import the MM2
Movie.

This is obviously the tail end of another thread?
So, some issues may have already been covered
by Wojo....................

It's an 18 min clip, but you let it trundle on for 20 hours?
After an hour you should have aborted.

You type: Ulead will not import the MM2 movie?
What file format is the movie? Is it DV-AVI ntsc?
Or is it a WMM project? (Which isn't a movie).

The preview and the inability of your standalone
DVD player to play the disk...........
The symptoms you describe maybe because you
are burning a *DATA* disk of DV-AVI content?

You were able to import and author a DVD of each
individual DV-AVI, but in WMM you are either unable
to join them together as one clip? Or...........
In WMM you can join them, but are then saving it as
a project? It is You who is doing something wrong!
You must *save* a completed movie, as a DV or WMV.

How to burn a movie created with WMM using MyDVD:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/moviemaker/expert/bridgman_burndvd.mspx

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/moviemaker/saveshare/default.mspx

Alternatively, if WMM and MyDVD are too complex, there is this
very simple, very basic freeware authoring tool.
You cannot edit, nor add titles or transitions etc.
But it will burn a DVD ready image of your 3 DV-AVI's with a
menu and finalised.
http://www.freeware4pc.com/multimedia/cheetahdvdvideo.shtml

Download and install.
It will place a shortcut on the desktop as well as an entry in the
Program folder.
The instructions are simple and basic:
Open folder with the 3 DV-AVI files.
Open Cheetah software.
The software does not have an import option,
You drag and drop the 3 DV-AVI files into the dialog of Cheetah.
Then click on the "Convert" button
You will be given the option of what folder to write the Video_TS
folder to. Click "OK".
Once completed you will have a full Image ready to burn to disk.

I guess I'm not very good at explaining myself in more detail. The 20
hours I mentioned pertains to the TOTAL amount of time I have put into trying
to complete this project of editing and burning a movie onto a DVD disk. I
did not let anything trundle for 20 hours. Regarding Ulead, it is an AVI
file which I tried by using both MM2 selection "best" and DV-AVI. I am also
using DVR-R disks. I never mentioned saving as a project - all attempts
(over the 20 hours of frustation) were saved to my computer.

I have 42 video clips that I trimed, split, and combined, into one 18 minute
movie in MM2. I added audio and a menu then "saved it to my computer. I
tried importing the whole 18 minutes twice but only got the audio. After
dividing it into a 9 minute movie and two 4.5 minute movies it imported and
the priviews were perfect. I burned the disk to a DVD-R and my player would
not except it. This same player has accepted the SAME discs for several
"test" burnings of shorter duration.

I don't doubt I am doing something wrong but its hard to determine what when
these programs are not consistant in their operation.
