mm2 freezes after adding effects

I have a mpg file that I import into MM2 when I start
doing editing and add transitions MM2 2 hangs and I have
to do an end task. Any ideas? I am thinking that maybe
it is because they are mpg instead or avi. I am going to
try saving it to a avi or wmv and see what happens.

Yup, it might be the MPEG2 issue, or it might be a codec one.... See the
Problem Solving > Acceleration and Codecs page of www.papajohn.org if you
haven't already.
 
On those pages you mentioned about the codecs are those
the good ones that work or are they the ones that need to
be renamed if they appear on my system? The one image
you have on that page covers up the text so I don't know
what it is talking about.

The list of about 15 on the page are the ones that would need to be renamed

If you can pull the right side of the browser window to the right, it'll
uncover the words... maybe I need to change the layout..
