MM2 crashes when clicking on Transition or Effect icon

Hardware:
1.4GHz P4 + 512 RAM. NVidia FX5200 VIVO Card (ASUS)
Win MM2 + DirectX 9b. (there's _plenty_ of Diskspace)
No other progs running (only Anti Virus). Happens in all
states - even after reboot.

Capturing & Playing video All OK. Can build a story
board, edit time-line. Problem lies in adding Transitions
(or Effects).
As soon as I click on the Transition or Effect icon, MM2
simply blinks out - dissapears from the screen - no error!
I assume that it is to do with the prog trying to 'demo'
the Transition in the video playing Window as sometimes it
stays up just long enough to paste the Transition name
into the title area above the video window.

Anyone similarly affected? What to do?

Thanks
Dave

This fixed my problem....

The conflict with the divxaf.ax codec is today's single
biggest reason for MM2 crashing. Start with that one -
find it, rename it, and then test MM2. You don't need to
reboot MM2 or anything to test it. If that's not it, then
go down this full page. And if that still doesn't resolve
it, go to the fuller Problem Solving
