MM2 crashes importing video

When I try to import into MM2 any mpg file saved by ATI's capture software,
MM2 immediately crashes ("WMM has encountered a problem and needs to
close"). But Windows Media Player plays those same files without
difficulty. Is this a known problem? Are there any fixes or workarounds?

I have some notes on the Analog Video Capture page of my site.... maybe
browsing them will help.

John, thanks but the problem I'm having is with importing, not with
capturing. The mpg files already succeeded in capturing the video (via ATI
MMC 8.9, Cat 4.3). But MM2 crashes when I try to import any of those files.
