MM2 can not find the cd recorder I have

when I try and make a cd an error message come up saying mm can not locate any cd recorders on this computer do you hwant to save to hard disk instead

I have a cd-r recorder 1 year old and a dvd-r recorder
why can it not find them?
any help?

If you're running Roxio v6, it could be the drag-to-disc option has your CD tied up. You can go to task manager to remove the program.
