MM2 AVI file wont play image just sound.

I have noticed that ever since I updated to MM2 v2.0.3312.0 (latest I think) that my AVI files wont play like before.

Everything on my computer is up to date and latest versions. WMM1 was fine, but the extra stuff on MM2 is much better for the use I intend. I tryed all other third party codecs and players but no joy.

Any Ideas?
 
The previewing might play poorly, but the final rendered movie should be
fine... during the preview MM2 will drop whatever it needs to in order to
keep up with real time.... but rendering isn't in real time and puts all the
data into the saved movie.

Sorry if I did not make myself clear enough, but that is not the issue, I would accept that if it was.

The AVI wont play any Picture at all ever since the update, just sound.
When I try to play the file in WMP9/10 it says downloading codec...Then it says error downloading codec and it plays the sound only. MM1 played the file just fine and Imported any type of file it was designed to handle. MM2 does not, rather it hangs when I try to import avi files or some mpg files and has I sayd it wont play avi files image at all. At any stage. Nada, zippo, ziltch.
 
That issue seems like you need a Divx codec, which MM2 doesn't'
automatically get.... see the Importing Source Files > Video > AVI page of
my site.

ummm!

If B4 I installed MM2 all was fine why would that sort of file just not play? Logicaly unless the installation removed those files/codecs (that by the way I never installed/downloaded or have been downloaded by any program/player). it should be fine and dandy. I think that MM2 may just have a little bug that is causing some sort of incompability with thae previous files/codecs that MM1 was happy to play with.

All though the information provided by you and all the websites I visited was helpfull I still cant get those files to be imported into MM2 or played fully (video/audio) just audio plays.

At this stage in time all I wonder is why Microsoft doesnt resolve this codec download issue straight up.

Download 2.5 beta - it should give you more info on what the codec is so you
can download the correct codec.
I know what you're saying - MM2 should not have affected it, but it has, so
we need to get you on the mend now!
