MM1 vs MM2

There is one difference in the "properties" of the AVI files I made with MM1 and MM2. When I right click on a clip and check properties, both look the same in audio: bit rate 1024, 2 chan, 32K sample rate, 16-bit samples. The difference is that the MM2 clips have the video bit rate specified at 28771. It's blank for the MM1 clips. The file bit rate is the sum, so it shows as 1024 for the MM1 clips and 29795 for the MM2 clips.

MM2 makes type 1 DV-AVI files, while MM1 makes type 2. Either can use
either, but some software can only use the older type 2 files.

So MM2 is making clips that it can't play back? Is the player in MM2 actually Windows Media Player?

Maybe I didn't write it clearly. MM1 and MM2 can use either type 1 or 2
DV-AVI files. Some other software can handle the older type 2 files, but not
the newer type 1.

No, the preview monitor in Movie Maker isn't the Windows Media Player.
