I have saved MM project to my computer using " DV - AV1 (NTSC)" & also "Best
for computer" and then used Nero to burn it to a DVD-RW disc. The DVD plays
fine on the computer but when I try to play it on my DVD player the message
"This disc is not formated properly" appears. I am using XP home+SP3. Where
am I going wrong?

Where you are going wrong is that you are creating a Data DVD...
not VIdeo DVD. For that you need DVD Authoring software. If you
have the full retail version of Nero...use the app called NeroVision.

Or you could try the following freebie:

DVD Flick
http://www.dvdflick.net/

Be sure to read the Guide:

If you have problems downloading DVD Flick...
try the following direct link:

or...
http://voxel.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/dvdflick/dvdflick_setup_1.3.0.4.exe

Save the file to a folder on your hard drive and
install from there.

Thanks very much John it worked first time using Nero Vision, Brilliant! I just wish that the Nero mannuals were more user friendly.
