Hi
I'm hoping beyond hope that some kind soul out there will be able to
help with this, but here we go anyway.
I recently acquired a Canon MV20 from my old man, and bought a firewire
card and cable for my laptop. I've had no joy so far with WMM 2.1 (but
have had fun practicing with the titles and stuff!) - it will control
the camera OK, but won't capture any video. It starts and stalls almost
immediately.
I've spent the best part of a day trawling through this, and other
forums, and have done pretty much everything suggested (workarounds,
uninstalling SP2, rolling back .sys files) but nothing seems to work.

I have another (older) desktop PC that is, as yet, untouched by the
horrors of SP2 and is running WMM 1.0. Is it worth investing in another
firewire card, capturing video on that and transferring the clips to WMM
2.1 on the laptop, or is there something glaringly obvious I've missed
that will allow me to solve the problem directly?

Thanks in advance

Andy.

Hi,

In my case it was the problem that my JVC camera wouldn't communicate with
the VIA chipset on the firewire card. installing another firewire card with,
in my case, a NEC chipset solved the whole thing.

Good luck,

Chris
