Hi everyone,
I'm been having problems recently with Windows Movie Maker 2.0 -
specifically I've gotten that vague error of insufficient memory, lost source
files, not enough hard drive space, etc. I went through papajohn's checklist
of things to check and do to correct it and nothing worked. Reading some of
the posts after on his site from other users, I decided to try installing the
Windows Media Encoder 16-bit, the WMV9 codec package and WMV9 VCM package. I
still was getting no where.
So, after getting a copy of WMM2.0 from Download.com and monitoring the
installation with Norton CleanSweep, I uninstalled Movie Maker and
reinstalled it. Now, the first time I reran the program, I used one image
with a transition (the image was a jpeg file - I've been able to incorporate
them into movies without fail before) and tried making a .wmv movie. It
started making the movie, but when I was prompted on whether I wanted to see
the movie when it was done, the program crashed. Now, whenever I try to make
a .wmv movie, the program crashes! I should note that I can make DV-AVI
movies with movie maker - this only happens when I try to make them the .wmv
format.
Now, here's the interesting part. When I start Window Media 9 encoder,
select convert a file, then pick an MPEG file to convert to .wmv, I get the
following error message:
'The requested video codec is not installed on this system (0xC00D0BC4)'.
It's my impression from this that the reason I can't make the .wmv format
movie is because I don't have the WMV encoder on my computer. However, when
I check my list of codecs (taken from Sherlock 2.0) to the list on papajohn's
codec list, there are only two he lists that he has that I don't, but they
don't appear to be related to making .wmv movies.
So, is my version of Movie maker crashing because I don't have this codec
for making .wmv movies? I'd really appreciate some direction on this.
Thanks.
