Mixing Versions

Does anyone think the following could generate a problem?

I have a new computer that came with XP home, MS works -
which contains Word XP and Outlook 2002. If I install
Powerpoint 2000 from Office 2000 from my old computer
would cause a problem with Word XP, due to the different
versions?

Just fyi... On the old computer, I had Outlook 2000.
When I installed Outlook 2002 for a new PDA, it briefly
worked, but then whenever I ran Office, it asked to
insert disks, and reverted to the old version. I'm just
worried about messing up the new system. Thanks!

It "shouldn't", but to play it safe I would uninstall Works, install
PowerPoint 2000, and then re-install Works. This should only be done if you
have the installation CD's for Works of course. We always install versions
in descending order of age (oldest first.)

I would also recommend using the custom install feature of office to change
the default folder location for PowerPoint to install. This may head off
some of the confusion within the office programs.

Instead of ...
c:\Program Files\Office\
use something like ...
c:\Program Files\Office 2000\
