Hello,

can it be risky for domain to change mode from MIXED TO NATIVE (only 1 DC)?
Backup prior to attempt?
What is the advantage of keeping MIXED mode if there is no NT workstations
and NT Domain Controlers?

Native Mode only prevents you to have NT4.0 BDCs within the domain. Note
this doesn't effect Workstations and members servers at all, you can still
use NT4.0 Workstations and NT4.0 Server as an member server.

Native mode adds a few nice futures to Active Directory like:

Universal Security Groups, Group Nesting, SidHistory Attribute and so on.

We can easy describe Windows2000 Native mode with one sentences , No more
NT4.0 BDCs

Very little risk. The big thing in making the change is that replication to
down-level DCs no longer works - but since yours is a single server domain,
there is no issue there.

If you have a RAS server, an issue may arise, since RAS in NT uses NUL
credentials, and moving to Native mode prevents that behaviour.
