Mistyped home page, cannot change in internet options

Setting up Internet Explorer 6 in windows 2000, I typed in
my desired home page in internet options. There's a type
ther and I cannot access internet options any more to fix
the typo. I tried removing & reinstalling, that didn't
help.
apparently that mistyped address is now located somewhere
outside of IE.
Where, and how to access???
