misterious PC Death...

Hi there,

I had a major problem with my old pc today...It began some month ago...The
machine got stuck completely so that only the small switch behind could
help...Today, my pc turned off automatically (just black screen, no correct
shutdown) and if you turn on the small switch on the backside and wait
approx. 1 min. nearly all LED´s begin flashing like crazy (even the one of
the cd-rom drive...) and nothing else happens...

Any idea what that could be?

You say "old", have you checked to see that the CPU heatsink isn't full of
dust and gunk? It could be an heat issue.

I will try to fix this problem now!

Let´s see when I have time to spend an hour on that case...I will let you
know if i have been sucessful or not...

Before I dismounted the PS i tried it once more and i noticed that approx
after 1 min...the PS ventilator started...and in the same moment the CDROM
Led began to flash...and there was a tiny noise which sounds like a car
engine that could not start...

I think it´t the PS...I´ll try a new one next week...let´s see...
