Missing XP Service

I'm trying to set up an 802.11A ad-hoc net between a pair of computers. Too
bad there isn't a lot od .11A hardware available in USB devices, because
this D-Link stuff (DWL-AG132) is tough to use, and their management software
is a bad joke. (even as bad as Linksys software is, this is far worse) In
the end I might have to use WZC, which means I'll have no idea if I'm
actually running A or G or B. :-( Is there better generic control software?

Anyway, one of the computers does not have the WZC service installed. It's
Win XP SP-2, I've done all the auto updates, and still that service is MIA.
It's not disabled....it's not there.

Any ideas how to get it installed without reinstalling XP? Copy some dlls?
Anything?

I didn't know there was a .networking.wireless group, but found it and
posted this message there as well, and MVP Jack gave me this tidbit:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WZCSVC

Add a DWORD entry named "Start" and value "2".

That fixed it! (The missing WZC and the connection problems) I assume Dell
killed the WZC for some reason on a laptop that shipped with an empty
mini-PCI slot. Odd they would do this.

D-Link is off the hook, but their software is still crap. :-)
