I booted up this morning and the system hanged... I reset
my system and it booted to a blank screen and I received
the error that my userinit.exe was missing... when I
looked in the windows folder it's there? I can search
the net etc. and haven't rebooted yet... I've done a
virus scan with AVG and Adaware... nothing untoward.
Thanks for any help...

.
No, I cant send you the file, but try repairing xp:
First, back up your data if there's any way you can.
Pop in your XP CD, reboot, and you may have to config
your BIOS to boot from a CD. To do this, check your mobo
manual.
Next, follow Setup's on-screen instructions, but press R
then prompted to format the hard drive.
Setup will reinstall XP, but it will retain your
files/settings.
