Missing User Accts

On an XP Pro Dell 4550, one day the computer was fine,
the next day the machine takes 6 minutes to come to the
multiple user logon screen. After choosing the
administrative user, going in to Con Panel.User Accts
shows no users. When I restart the computer and go into
Windows setup to use the Repair function, the system
tells me that the administrative password is invalid but
I am using the correct password.
Any ideas?

If you were using the default system settings for XP
home, you probably have the restore options available.
If you boot into safe mode, you should be able to use
system restore to load your setup from the previous day
(or maybe longer depending on how much space was setup
for that purpose).

Hit F8 when booting into Windows to find the boot menu,
then go with safe mode. The restore option should show
up automatically after going into safe mode.
