Missing toolbars

Hi all

wondering if you could maybe shed some light on a problem
im having with word 2000. When i open the program, it
opens with a new blank document, but no toolbars or menus
or anything - just a ruler.

I have tried ctrl+v but cannot even bring up any shortcut
menus - right clicking doesn't bring up any menus either.
I have reinstalled word tonight but the problem remains!?!?

Any ideas would be greatfully appreciated!?!

Go to VIEW -> TOOLBARS and tick the toolbars you want to
see...the 2 most common are BASIC and EDIT
