Missing Text - since using windows update

Is this a problem with the browser or a problem which has been installed with
windows update ?

I have just installed IE6SP2 after restoring my machine and everything was
fine and yes i had my updated virus scan and firewall on aswell. All i did
was download 46 updates for my windows from windows update (by the yellow
shield appearing by the clock on my desktop) and restarted when prompted. As
soon as i launch my ie browser at the top where the "minimise , maximise and
close buttons are" it says the site name obviously but before it used to say
: "sitename - Microsoft Internet Explorer" well all it says now is "sitename
-" whats going on ? im using win xp home sp2

A few years ago I too used Microsoft KB176497 to fix a W98 SE issue
associated with Window Title used in Internet explorer & Outlook Express
(version 6+).

But recently moved to Windows XP (Pro) SP2 & noted that there is no Value
Name called Window Title in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Main?

Is there an explanation of how or where the Value Data associated with Value
Name (Window Title) is specified or assigned in WXP?

Thanks for any help.

Hi,
This script should be safe for XP. The registry keys haven't changed. Create
a System Restore point or backup the registry and try the VBS file
chgietitle.vbs at
http://www.dougknox.com/cosmetic/scripts_desc/chgietitle.htm

Or you could manually edit the registry to add "Microsoft Internet Explorer"
to the window title.
See:

Hope this helps,

In all versions of IE if the value is not there then IE gets the default
title.
