All of the text on my slides is not showing up in my
outline. I have to have separate placeholders to get the
effect I want. I would like to be able to print just a
text version without the pics. Is there a way to have PP
print out all the text without the pics? PP 2000 SP1...

Also having problems with custom bullets not showing up
when I send the presentation to someone else. Do they
just need a copy of the .bmp used to make the bullet?

Please respond to (e-mail address removed)...

Thanks!!

Do you mean separate text boxes? Placeholders and text boxes are different
animals. Text in the Slide title and body text placeholders shows up in the
outline view. That's it. These are the "Click here to ..." gadgets you see
when you add a new title & bulleted text slide, for example.

Do you want the text to be formatted and appear as though on the slide or do
you just want something like a notepad file that includes all the text?

Hi Terri,

1) Outline will only display text in placeholders, not added textboxes.

text version without the pics. Is there a way to have PP
print out all the text without the pics?
2) You can use a VBA solution that extracts text from PPT file

3) I would think that PowerPoint would embed these, but perhaps someone else
on the NG has different experience. Is there a chance that they are using
PowerPoint 97? It does not support custom bullets.

4) Sorry, that is not what the NG's are all about. See:

Can I have more than one placeholder? Can I turn existing
text boxes into placeholders so they show up on the
outline?

I would like it to appear like it does on the slide. I
would like to handout just a text version of the
presentation for the people to follow.

Can I convert textboxes into placeholders?

and yes, I did just find out they are using PP97...thanks
for the info...

You can only have the number of placeholders as MS has designed into the
AutoLayout the slide's based on. For text in the outline, that means Title
or Title/Bullet slides, so there can only be two placeholders per slide.

One possible solution to your problem:

Choose View, Black and White (you may have to use Tools, Customize to add
this option to the menu in PowerPoint 97).

Once PPT is in B/W view, for each shape/graphic/whatever you want to make
disappear on the printouts:

- Rightclick it
- Choose B/W from the popup
- Choose Don't Show (or words to that effect) from the next popup

That'll make the shape disappear in b/w printouts but won't affect color
printouts/screenshows.
