I am running Windows XP with Service Pack 2 & I have Free "Adaware" & "AVG
Antivirus" I am in the habit of emptying
my Temp. Internet Files every day or so & I can usually scroll for ages from
top to bottom as there are that many files in the folder but the last week
or so every day when I look there are only a few files in the folder from
the current day ( other than cookies) & I usually
visit the same sites daily...I was wondering if someone could give me a
reason why this has happened, where are all the files going & why, I
haven't ticked
"Empty TIF when Browser is closed "

Do have any programs such as Disk Cleaner, EasyCleaner, Empty Temp Folders,
MRUBlaster, cccleaner or similar?

Hope this helps. Let us know.

Lesley,

How about Disk Cleanup?

It is found on the Start Menu under Accessories\System Tools

Paste this in Start | Run and click OK...

cleanmgr

Does that look familiar?

[[You can use Disk Cleanup to free up space on your hard disk by removing
temporary Internet files, removing installed components and programs that
you no longer use, and emptying the Recycle Bin.]]

Yes I have Disk Cleanup...I had a look at it but wouldn't be game enough to
delete any of the thing just in case I got rid of something really important,
would it help if I used System Restore????

Lesley,

Most folks want to know how to get rid of their Temporary Internet Files.
If the folders are too full that can cause problems.

Here are a few problems that may be caused by Temporary Internet Files that
are too full....

Internet Explorer Saves Images As Bitmaps (.bmp Files)
The Disk Cleanup Tool Stops Responding
Error Message When You Open Photo: "The Page Cannot Be Displayed"
OL2000: Internet Free/Busy Information Not Updated
Money: Error Message: Money Is Unable to Verify Your Online Sign In
OLEXP: Sent Web Page Is the Cached Version of the Web Page Not the Most
Current Version of the Web Page
Outlook Express message appears blank and has an ATT000XX.txt or an
ATT000XX.htm attachment

Why do you want to keep yours?

each day when they always remained there before & I had to delete them. Also
I want to know that whatever is causing them to disappear each day is not
going to cause another problem of some kind.

Take a look at your Amount of disk space to use setting for Temporary

Lesley,

I am running out of things for you to check.

Open the Registry Editor and navigate to...
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\
Internet Settings\Cache

In the right hand pane you should see an item named Persistent.

The value should be 0x00000001 (1) to not empty TIF on closing IE.

Wesley I looked where you said to & found this

Persistent REG_DWORD 0x00000001 (1)

There was nothing about "to not empty TIF on closing IE."

Maybe I will just have to leave it as it is....so far ( finger's crossed) it
doesn't seem to be causing any other problems.

Thanks for trying

If the DBX files are still there delete Folders.dbx while OE is closed. If
the folders are gone use DBXpress to find in disk mode to find messages on
the hard drive. It probably will not find everything.
