Hi Joe,

Remove IE Restrictions & Restore Missing tabs. Download a fix from:
http://www.angelfire.com/dragon/sramesh2k/reg/IE_reset_restrictions.reg

The problem may be due to:

1. A spyware. Download Ad-Aware from www.lavasoftusa.com, scan the system
and eliminate the malware products. Re-apply the above fix if necessary.
** Remember to update the pattern file using WebUpdate in Ad-Aware **

( Caused by a malware called CoolWebSearch. Also, Download:
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/cwshredder.zip )

2. You have enabled SpyBot immunize (protection) feature or any other
similar software.

Will that registry patch work if you are missing the Security and Advanced
tabs from Internet Options? I am running Windows 98SE, and I have upgraded
my IE to IE6 SP1. The problem started for me, while I was still running IE
5.5. Upgrading to IE6 SP1 did not help any. I have run the latest versions
of Ad-Aware and Spybot Search & Destroy. I have also run HijackThis, but
haven't asked it to fix anything yet.

Larry,

The patch works for all OS. If you want to know which keys are modified,
right-click the file and choose "edit". The first line reads "REGEDIT4".
Means, it suits all OS.

Thank you for your reply. Now for another dumb question; how do I use the
patch? I'm usually a little leery of messing with the Registry.
TIA

Larry, Download the .reg file and save it to the desktop. Right-click it and
choose "Merge".
The fix is applied.

Hi Ramesh,
I tried that, but I get an error message, stating: "Cannot import ******.
The specified file is not a registry script. You can only import registry
files."

Ramesh,
I found a different Reg fix, posted by someone else on this newsgroup, that
worked as advertised. I now have my tabs back. Thanks for trying to help, I
don't know why your script didn't work.
