Missing Status Bar

My status bar dosent appear when i launch IE ... i have
to enable it manaully from the View mwnu option ... all
advise appreciated.
 
Applied Mike's solution (08/26/03) and it works:
just needed to add the two new registry keys and do a
ctrl - close.

1. Enable Status Bar in such an IE window.

2. Close all other IE windows but the one in #1.

3. Close #1 window whilst depressing CTRL.
