I have successfully upgrade my Windows NT 4.0 domain to Windows 2003 AD.
Thanks to everyone advice here. The issue I am having now is that I use to
have a Call back option for my VPN users. The VPN concentrator that I am
using is the Cisco and all I had to do is click on allow users to dial in.
Now I don't have that option, is there a way I can get it back. Thanks

What is the relationship between this Cisco
feature and Windows in general or AD in
specific?

Did you have some sort of utility that ran on
Windows and which managed your Cisco VPN
settings?

Or did you use a Web or Cisco command line
through Telnet to make those changes?

If it was a program, is the program still there
(on the hard drive) even if perhaps the shortcut
is missing from the desktop or start menus?

(Go check in Program Files and other likely places.)

Did you do a true UPGRADE of the NT PDC, or did
you do something different?

Sorry Herb, my problem is that it's on the User and Computers on the AD side
not the actual program itself. Think back to User Manager there was a Call
Back Option Tab, that is what I am looking for. As for Cisco goes it
authenicates just fine. On the Concentrator I've select the domain to which
it handles authenication, which works good for current users, I am worried
about new users and how I can select the VPN option to allow specifc users to
login. Hope I'd clear things up. Thanks

The Call back option is still available in the
RRAS options.

One possibility is that since the Cisco is NOT
a domain (member) machine you may need to
place the "Everyone" group in the "Pre-Windows
Compatibility" Group -- you would have to do
this with an NT RAS server even if it were a
domain member machine since NT computer
accounts cannot be placed into groups.

Were the Cisco machine to have a real Win2000+
type computer account it would be placed into
the "RRAS and IAS Servers" group to allow it to
see all of the correct user option information.

Herb I think I'd just found the answer, the issue is that on Administrator
pack does not all you to administrator that portion. It will allow you to
admin that on the DC. It is not part of that option. JUst look on AD Users
and Computers and you will see a Dial up Tab, but it won't show on the Admin
Pack for XP. THanks for your help.

That is really odd.

Perhaps there was an authentication problem --
would it let you admin other properties?

Did you install adminpak from Win2003 on XP?

I believe that the adminpac.msi from Win2000 is NOT
suitable for XP (but maybe that is only in a Win2003
domain.)
