Missing Printer Objects in Active Directory

We are running Windows 2000 Server on our Fileserver. The users are running
Windows 2000 Pro on their PC's. The users recently lost the ability to print.
After we investigated, we noticed on the Fileserver that all of the Printers
installed on the server were gone. We shutdown the server and re-started it
and the printer objects were back again, as well as the printing for the
users.

Does anyone have any ideas to what may have caused this? How do we fix it?

Thanks in-advance for your support.

This is often caused by a jammed print job in a print queue, or congestion
of the queue by many jobs waiting idle. The easiest way to cure it is to go
to the server, open a command prompt, then type the following two lines:

net stop spooler

net start spooler

That should clear any jammed jobs, restart all print queues, and make
networked printers available again.
