Missing printer icon

If I leave my computer run for more than 24 hours at a
time the printer icon for my Lexmark x83 disappears from
the tool tray. If you tell something to print you get
the error message that no printer is attached. This
printer is attached by USB. If you reboot everything
works fine again.
 
Could very easily be a printer problem. No way easily to determine other than
trying another printer.
